Winner of the Social Responsibility Award in the Home category
Everything this Australian social enterprise does is aimed at achieving social impact. The brand’s for-purpose model embraces social responsibility and prioritises people and the planet over profit.
Proudly made in Bangladesh, where the founder previously lived and worked, the brand’s mission is to promote Bangladesh as more than just a fast fashion producer, changing perceptions and showcasing the country’s rich artisanal culture. Profits are reinvested back into the business to create more employment opportunities in Bangladesh, to improve environmental outcomes and to make a positive impact on the world.
Earth Worthy’s award-winning handloom blankets and hauler bags are handmade in rural Bangladesh, where fair trade principles are followed. 100% of revenue is reinvested back into employing artisans and makers in Bangladesh, including survivors of the 2013 Rana Plaza factory collapse, so that they can provide for their families. Production takes place in artisans’ backyards, allowing them to participate in family life. Earth Worthy works with a sourcing manager to ensure artisans have a safe and healthy work environment. A 50% upfront payment for all orders is offered to ensure artisans are paid on time and suppliers of the yarn are paid in full.
