Ethical
The Very Good Bra chooses 100% biologically circular materials in order to ensure minimum impact on air, oceans and land. The brand works with a WRAP certified factory in Sri Lanka that provides many additional benefits to staff and also has a number of energy saving initiatives in place. Over 50% of their materials spend goes to female led businesses and almost 100% of their support services, which are all Australia based. The brand does not edit the models they shoot in their products.
Sustainable
The Very Good Bra uses materials that are 100% botanically circular and compostable. They are 100% plastic-free and contain no spandex, nylon or polyester and therefore there is minimal environmental impact in their production. The brand sells replacement straps for their bras so customers can extend the life of them and have a Facebook Buy Swap and Sell group where used bras that no longer fit can find new homes globally. Parcels are sent in acid-free, recyclable tissue paper and labels and customers can choose between a compostable or recycled/recyclable plastic mailer. The Very Good Bra uses 100% renewable energy and all their office materials are low-impact and sustainable. Leftover materials are used to make small runs of sleep wear.
Responsible
The Very Good Bra work with Avenue co-working as a fulfilment partner, a brilliant social venture offering employment opportunities to people of all abilities. The brand also donates $1 per sale to charities such as Greening Australia and the NBCF. The brand’s owner personally donates time to webinars and conferences including UN Compact, UNSW, Ndless, Sustainable Brands as well as supports and mentors new entrants to the market. This year The Very Good Bra has successfully lobbied the industry and had an application accepted by Standards Australia to create a world first Australian Standard for textile composting, together with Blake Lindley of CIRQ Solutions.

Like wearing nothing! The Very Good Bras Tee-in-bed top is so lightweight you’ll forget you’re wearing it. I’ve found it super comfortable to lounge and sleep in and really like the seamless design. The light grey colour makes it a versatile garment that can be worn with other pyjama bottoms. It’s clear that The Very Good Bra has considered its supply chain extensively, ensuring that garments are made with minimal impact on the planet, and will disappear (quickly) without a trace. I love the brand’s commitment to people and the planet, while creating quality products.

I love that it’s soft and comfortable, and breathable. I also love the organic materials, and the fact it uses cellulose stitch and soy ink, very cool extra details! The design is wearable and classic, and I love that it’s also machine washable, making for easy use. I love that their social responsibility extends to several different areas – not just the sustainability aspect. The sustainability details here are particularly good; environmental responsibility extends to the stitching and label choices. I also appreciate the transparency with tracking and using female-led businesses, particularly in overseas businesses. I love the brand’s extra work on fabric recycling and composting!
