Salvage Australia ensures high standards in social and ethical responsibilities through careful selection of factories and suppliers. Products are manufactured in a Chinese factory specialized in using recycled materials and certified by Control Union and Global Recycled Standard. The factory is also compliant with FSC for responsibly sourced packaging and regularly audited by Amfori BSCI to uphold workers' rights and social responsibilities.
Salvage Australia was founded with a mission to create products from recycled materials, specifically using RPet plastic made from repurposed waste PET. Their bags are environmentally friendly, with a reduced carbon footprint compared to new plastic manufacturing. By using recycled materials, Salvage aims to reduce the amount of plastic entering oceans and landfills. Each Salvage bag is made from four recycled plastic bottles, contributing to the brand's efforts to increase recycling and decrease plastic waste. The brand also practices a reduce, reuse, recycle philosophy in their office operations and shipping practices, including using packaging made from certified Ocean Bound plastic. By promoting reusability and discouraging unnecessary purchases, Salvage Australia aligns with sustainable practices and aims to minimise environmental impact.
Salvage Australia donates 1% of sales to The Ocean Cleanup, aiming to clean up 90% of floating Ocean Plastic pollution. They repurpose single-use plastics into bags to prevent them from polluting oceans and landfills. Additionally, Salvage has provided totes to Brunch, Babies and Bubbles, a company in Brisbane supporting first-time mothers through brunch events.
