Living Koko is a slave-free certified company that sources cacao directly from farmers, with a focus on supporting women in Samoa who are left behind when their partners leave for seasonal work in Australia. The company gives free seedlings to those interested in growing cacao, especially prioritising women. They also provide employment opportunities for women, mothers and grandmothers from migrant communities, as well as sponsor global First Nations businesses and community events. Living Koko aims to support women returning to work, mentor small migrant-owned businesses and provide work placement opportunities. Additionally, the brand imports 95% of ingredients from vulnerable communities in the Pacific Islands and supports countries like Samoa, Tonga, Niue and Tahiti. They also host agricultural tours to connect consumers with farmers and showcase their ethical practices in post-harvesting processes.
Living Koko is a zero waste office and their manufacturing space is powered by green solar energy. They recycle packaging from suppliers, shred unnecessary paperwork for packaging and reuse all byproducts of cacao to eliminate waste. Their sustainability efforts extend to their farmers, ensuring fair prices to maintain healthy, chemical-free land. They also implement eco-friendly packaging practices to minimise environmental impact, such as using foil to preserve the shelf life of their chocolates. Additionally, they repurpose cacao skin for tea and create a chocolate body scrub, showcasing their commitment to sustainability throughout their operations.
Living Koko Pty Ltd started with 10 farmers and now collaborates with over 400 small domestic plot farmers, prioritising women in agriculture. They import 95% of ingredients from vulnerable communities in the Pacific Islands, supporting Samoa, Tonga, Niue and Tahiti. The brand sponsors Global First Nations Businesses and community events, including the Global Indigenous Management conferences in 2023 and 2024. Living Koko has donated over 200 gift boxes for raffles at local community events, arts events and fundraisers. They also offer free tickets to those in need for their wellbeing events, with indigenous individuals paying half price. Additionally, Living Koko works with Les Twentymen on Youth wellbeing projects to support young people at risk, and runs wellbeing workshops with the "Aging positively" community of Melton and Brimbank to support elders.

It was so easy to use with a great flavour – not too bitter and perfect just on its own blended with milk! I absolutely loved reading about the whole supply chain and understanding that Living Koko really cares about each stage of production along with the communities and people involved. The adherence to beautiful farming practices and support of women in Samoa was also so lovely to learn about.

Rich, raw, divine cacao powder that I can feel the heart opening benefits from. I appreciate so much the regenerative farming approach used by Living Koko. The initiatives around supporting farmers, honouring Indigenous cultivation strategies and being committed to slave-free processes is admirable and how it should be!

Product arrived in minimal packaging with an information leaflet which I love, I enjoyed learning more about the brand. As soon as I opened the pouch, I could smell the amazing Cacao, it was deliciously strong and the shavings were all consistent in size. This product had a creamy consistency and the taste was amazing! I am also very impressed with the brands ethical efforts; in particular sourcing direct from the farmer and removing the middle person. I like that they give free seedlings to people wanting to grow cacao.
