Clean Ingredients / Materials
Made from excellent, clean ingredients.
Kaiyu Superfoods manufactures coconut products in South Australia sourced from Nui Life, which supports the villages involved in growing and processing the coconuts. The brand aims to increase the involvement of First Nations People in the Native Food Industry by purchasing Kakadu Plums from a First Nations community in the Northern Territory, processing them in-house and employing a First Nations worker during processing. They ensure the accuracy of the Vitamin C content in their Kakadu Plum powder through rigorous testing by the University of Queensland and NATA labs. Additionally, Kaiyu Superfoods grows Lemon Myrtle in SA and sources it from Aboriginal growers in WA to ensure it is free from Myrtle Rust, with gluten testing done to confirm it is gluten-free.
Kaiyu prioritises sustainability in their packaging and operations. They use recyclable packaging, compostable mailers, tape and labels for mailing. Moreover, they employ solar energy to reduce electricity usage from the grid. Through bush regenerative agriculture, they have regenerated land by planting Kakadu Plums and Red bush apples, reducing weeds and planting hundreds of trees to increase habitat for the endangered Regent Parrot. They compost their organic waste, paper and cardboard at their home and block where native foods grow. Additionally, they only purchase Lemon Myrtle from Myrtle Rust free states to prevent spreading the disease. They have also planted 1190 native plants for habitat and give away native plants to others for habitat creation.
Kaiyu, a First Nations owned business, has been supporting the Coota Girls foundation by providing products at low cost or for free to the Stolen Generation and their children. They also employ First Nations people to assist in processing large amounts of their products, such as freeze drying and powdering their Kakadu Plum. Kaiyu Superfoods aims to set an example for other First Nations businesses by showing them how to value add and retain a bigger part of the supply chain profit. They have trained and mentored First Nations businesses in various processes, and plan to further train First Nations communities in freeze drying, pulping and powdering, allowing them to process their own Kakadu Plums. Additionally, Kaiyu Superfoods is a member and director of a non-profit corporation, BBIEC, which helps First Nations growers, wild harvesters and producers differentiate themselves and share their provenance. They also source ingredients from ethical companies, such as Nui Life, which gives profits back to villagers who provide coconut products.

Product arrived in great condition with minimal packaging. I love the colour of the product packaging, really nice! I love that you only need to add water to make the protein balls. The mixture smelt nice while mixing. I love the clean ingredients list, and that it is manufactured in Australia. I love that they use solar energy to reduce their use of electricity from the grid. I also love that the business plants native plants on their block in SA where they grow their native foods to increase the habitat for the Regent Parrot and other wildlife in the area.

This is a super convenient whole foods snack. Couldn’t be easier to make and not too sweet too! It is great that it is made in Australia and that first nations people are involved in the supply chain. I love that the vit C is independently tested. Superb social responsibility too.

I appreciated this products absolute ease of use and simple instructions. I was impressed by a commitment to third party testing of the ingredients and engaging Aboriginal providers. The holistic commitment to the environment in which the ingredients are grown is also a big plus! I was also really impressed by the integration of the supply chain, Aboriginal ownership and supply and considerations of the environment across all parts of the manufacturing/sales process.
