Non-toxic
Made from excellent, non-toxic materials. Handle from 100% recycled HDPE from recycled shampoo & Conditioner bottles. Rope: 100% RPET.
Ethical
HI JAC products are Australian Made and designed. They use a local micro plastic manufacturer who makes their handles and assembles the leads. Rope is sourced from the Netherlands and carabiner from China. The companies' China suppliers are regulated by a third party report.
Sustainable
The company has a 'bite back' scheme to take back their leads so they can be recycled (the handle to be remade), reused or repurposed. Leashes have a tag and are shipped in a 'no frills' parcel, both of which are made from recycled material and recyclable. Black Rainbow sustainable printing is used for tags printed using non-toxic inks, recycled paper and solar power. HI JAC offsets their shipping emissions via Shopify and office energy is sourced through Nectr, a 100% clean energy plan.
Responsible
HI JAC is a member of 1% for the planet. Committed to local manufacturing, as Australia grows its manufacturing capabilities they hope to eventually source all their materials from Australia. The company has commenced a project with their industrial designers (People & Things) to research an alternative to their carabiner that can be made from recycled plastic or similar and locally sourced.

Crushing on this concept and perfect for the funkiest of furry friends. These swish dog lead handles and bonded rope are made from plastic shampoo bottles, making them super strong and equally stylish. I wasn’t sure how it would go as Rocco is a puller, but we walked beautifully together in his new look. What a fab idea. I’m so impressed with the recyclable nature of this concept and that they can even recycle used leads with their ‘bite back’ scheme, but I have a feeling this sturdy lead will last a long time- great work!

The handle of this leash is super comfortable, which means that when my dog Stella pulls (she’s a staffy cross!) it doesn’t hurt my hand at all. The handle is also light and the carabiner is fast and easy to use. Plus the colours and design are really nice! I like that this handle is made from recycled plastic (and their ‘bite back’ policy is really great), especially as it is so ergonomic, and it’s great that the cord is made from non-toxic materials.
