Hello Period is a B Corporation certified and Climate Positive Business, with their Hello Undies being made in a New Zealand-owned factory in China. Their period cups and discs are manufactured in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The underwear factory in China does not use child labor and pays fair wages to every employee. All staff at Hello Period are paid well above living wage and have benefits such as an ESOP scheme and a Duvet Day Policy. The brand chooses ingredients based on quality and longevity, with their cups and discs made from medical grade materials. Despite the common misconception, their underwear is deliberately not made from natural fibers like cotton due to sustainability concerns, such as the large amounts of water and fertilisers used in the cotton industry. Instead, the brand focuses on creating leakproof and long-lasting reusable products.
Hello Period focuses on sustainability by offering products designed to replace single-use items. Their Hello Undies are independently tested to ensure they are free of harmful substances like PFAS. All product and postal packaging is fully recyclable or compostable. Each product diverts at least 800 single-use tampons or pads from landfills and the brand has diverted over 500 million period care products to date. Hello Period is Climate Positive, Vegan and a certified B Corporation.
Hello Period prioritises social responsibility by implementing various initiatives to help, inspire and educate others. These include the Bloody Good Workplace Programme, the Hello Kindness donation programme, donations to researchers studying menstrual blood and health, speaking at schools about sustainable period care options and providing staff with five paid "Duvet Days" per year. This is the first time I’ve seen period undies that actually looked stylish and beautiful – why should period undies have to be boring? They were more absorbent than I expected. I also really appreciated the way the wash care instructuctions are printed so clearly – very helpful! These period undies are so comfortable to wear. As a mum with diastasis recti, I much prefer the secure feeling of wearing high waisted underwear. These kept me feeling secure without feeling restricted. I also think that the amount of reduced landfill due to their product being re-usable over and over is something to be very proud of!
