Abel sources fair trade and organically certified ingredients where possible and they ensure both their perfume and packaging suppliers share similar ethical values. Their major production partner Symrise has a program of initiatives which include; minimum wages, health insurance, training and biodiversity projects in their local communities.
Sustainable
Abel carefully sources ingredients which are 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable, leaving no toxic residue. All fragrances are made entirely of essential oils, extracts and plant derived scent molecules in a base of organically certified, food-grade grain alcohol. 100% of Abel’s New Zealand orders are shipped Carbon Neutral and they are currently working towards 100% Carbon Neutral shipping worldwide by 2023. Their packaging is FSC certified and uses vegetable dyes and inks. Furthermore Abel only produces what is necessary to avoid wastage and has a “one in, one out” policy for new products.
Responsible
Abel is an advocate for ingredient transparency in their products to create better outcomes for the planet and its people. They participate in the 1% for the planet network, donating 1% of total revenue to non-profit organisations. Sustainable Coastlines and Wellington Women's House (a non-profit organisation providing temporary housing to women during difficult times) are also sponsored by Abel. Furthermore there is an incredible initiative that for every bottle and discovery set sold online, one meal is donated to a child in need through Mary’s Meals.
