About Us
Founded in 2019, the Awards are the brainchild of blogger, mother and Optometrist Emily Fletcher, who founded the Awards after identifying the need to celebrate safe and socially responsible products.
The Clean + Conscious Awards are now running in their seventh year. So much has changed since its inception, but most importantly, the clean and conscious movement, once so niche, has taken seed and flourished.
It’s inspiring to see so many brands and small businesses set the gold standard when it comes to being clean and conscious – encouraging bigger brands to take note and follow suit.
Consumers are becoming increasingly more conscious – scrutinising the backs of labels, calling out greenwashing, and questioning the what, where and how of the products they buy.
It’s an exciting time to be alive!

Meet The Team
Emily Fletcher
Founder & Head of Research & Education
Emily is the founder of the Clean + Conscious Awards. A mother of two with postgraduate qualifications in Pharmacology and a background in Advanced Chemistry, Emily spent over 15 years practising as an Optometrist.
Emily began documenting her journey of discovering truly healthy, non-toxic products for her home and family over nine years ago. Since then, her ability to read scientific research papers, explain her findings clearly, and provide an independent voice without brand associations has made her a well-respected authority in the clean and conscious world.
Today, Emily is more passionate than ever about educating consumers on the power they have to change the world by supporting brands that prioritise the planet and its people
Emma Freeman
Content, Marketing + Strategy
Emma has worked alongside Emily in overseeing and executing content and marketing strategy for the Awards for the past six years. She also directs the creative vision of the Clean + Conscious brand and recruits experts for the Awards Expert Panel.
Emma has a background in media and marketing, having worked with platforms such as the ABC, body+soul and Fairfax. In recent years Emma has worked exclusively with purpose-led businesses.
Based in the Northern Rivers with her young family, Emma is deeply passionate about climate action, waste reduction and conscious living. In 2025 she will be focussing her attention on the Awards, the Clean + Conscious blog and other exciting projects.
Dominique Scott
Awards Coordinator
Dominique is an advocate for holistic health, a qualified nutritionist and wellness coach, and has a PhD in clinical psychology.
In 2025 she joins the Clean + Conscious team, for the fifth year in a row, as the Awards Coordinator and a valued member of our Expert Panel.
Dom believes everyone has the right to feel vibrant and fulfilled and that true well-being arises from a holistic understanding of ourselves – embracing not only our physical health but also nurturing our mental, emotional, social, and spiritual selves.
She is deeply passionate about the power of kindness and confident that by leading with compassion toward yourself, others, and the planet, you can become a transformative force for positive change.
Alexandra Sainty
Communications Assistant
Alexandra holds a bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition, along with a Diploma of Population health and has been working in customer service roles for over a decade.
While trying to conceive their son for three years, Alexandra embarked on a low-tox journey systematically swapping things out for better options, and was able to eventually conceive her son naturally. Her passion for conscious living and creating a healthy, low-tox home environment has continued to grow over the years.
Joining the Clean and Conscious team in 2022 after starting some copywriting work as a stay at home mother, Alexandra helps behind the scenes with the C+C Directory, social media community management and loves engaging with our incredible brands and beautiful community.Â
