GOLD + EDITOR'S CHOICE
Non-toxic
Made from sustainable fabric. Made with ECONYL Regenerated Nylon, a fibre made using ghost nets and waste from landfill.
Ethical
Salt Gypsy’s products are made in Australia by veterans of the Australian Stretchwear Industry. The brand works closely with their woman-owned and operated boutique production team on the Gold Coast, using Italian stretch fabrics made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon yarn. The garments are thoughtfully designed for long-lasting wear and transcending the fast fashion cycle. Not only does the brand predominantly work with woman-owned manufacturers in their domestic supply chain, they also work mainly with female talent across marketing: photographers, videographers, stylists, content creators, models.
Sustainable
Salt Gypsy is about to start working with Trace (www.our-trace.com) to begin their journey to net zero. The brand utilizes Upparel as a brand partner to offer the community and customers the opportunity to return textiles/used surf and swimwear for textile recycling in Melbourne. No Issue brand paper mailers and recycled card swing tags are used. Furthermore they are working on developing their own inhouse Closing the Loop Programme to launch Q4 2022.
Responsible
Salt Gypsy has provided many product and monetary donations to various women's community groups and individuals across USA, NZ, AU (historically: Iran, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Brazil). The founder, Danielle Clayton, is Co-President of Aotearoa Women's Surfing Association (AWSA), donating her time and expertise to helping shape and support women's surf culture in New Zealand. Furthermore they have a SurfAid brand partnership through a specific product range where $10 from each piece sold is directly donated to SurfAid.

The Goldilocks of swimmers! These pants are not too tight, not too loose, just right! The fabric knit is stretchy enough that they’re a breeze to put on and take off while the structure is flattering and supportive in all the right places. The Salt Gypsy Betty Bottoms are a swim and surf staple. Salt Gypsy’s commitment to people and planet is unwavering! I love that the brand is on a journey to net zero production and working on a closed loop program for its garments. Importantly, Salt Gypsy is creating a quality, well made garment that will be worn and loved.

I like the double thickness of the fabric at the belly, it makes you feel confident and secure. The ribbed fabric feels luxe and is a great stylish choice. Appreciate the little details in the stitching/piping/construction, such as the crossover at the side leg seam, reminiscent of a retro basketball short. Great to see the use of women in the marketing who would actually use these products to a high level, places confidence in the consumer for longevity/quality, and lends a genuine aspect to the product. Like the use of recycled materials in construction, and also the Australian manufacturing. And starting a journey to net zero!
